GENEVA MOTOR SHOW: Subaru's VIZIV 2 Concept

New design study could be a pointer to the next Outback
Subaru will arrive in Geneva next month with a new show car to reveal.
Named the VIZIV 2 ('Vision for Innovation'), the new car is described by the manufacturer as 'a future-generation crossover concept'.
It's unknown at this stage how much the new design study owes to the original VIZIV show car, which was also a crossover concept, and also made its debut in Geneva, last year.
The earlier car – a diesel/electric plug-in hybrid – was shorter than Forester, and was more a showcase for Subaru's drivetrain technology than a hint of a new model yet to come. But the VIZIV 2 might just preview a new model.
Given the recent premiere of the Liberty (Legacy) sedan in Chicago this month, an Outback version should be the next model in the pipeline – and the VIZIV 2 might be the precursor to the production model. The photo supplied by Subaru tells little, other than the concept car will sport Subaru's latest design language, but it's the very discreet angle of the shot that yells out the further significance of this concept.
Joining the VIZIV 2 on the Subaru stand in Geneva will be a race-prepped version of the new WRX STI, which will take part in the Nürburgring 24-Hour Race during June.
