Volvo Shooting Brake concept

Mystery Volvo makes coy part-unveiling prior to expected Geneva motor show debut

These images of a minimally revealed Volvo have been supplied by Swedish winter apparel maker Stutterheim Raincoats, and are reputed to partly show a concept estate, possibly a two-door shooting brake.

The swathe of images suggests something of the form established in a number of styling exercises by the company, including the Volvo Concept Coupe revealed at the Frankfurt motor show in 2013 and the Concept XC Coupe shown at this year’s Detroit motor show.

There could also be some of the controversially-styled C30 three-door hatch that went on sale locally in 2007.

There is talk the new Volvo wagon could be a two-door vehicle, and on closer inspection of the images the door lines appear to corroborate this.

Similar in style to the Concept Coupe and Concept XC Coupe it is expected to be a concept-only car. However, like some of Volvo's concepts it's certainly feasible it that may be followed by a more realistic version somewhere down the track.

Some discreet fabric-lifting seen in the images reveals the low-slung wagon’s prominent Volvo grille, as well as some saucy peeps at the car’s hindquarters, including its sizeable taillight stack and integrated exhaust system - suggesting the car won't be driven purely by electricity.

Other features such as the roof spoiler, a mild rear-bumper splitter, as well as the five-spoke wheels that look like 22-inchers at least, suggest the vehicle could have a performance bent.

Nothing is as yet confirmed, but the Volvo creation is expected to be properly unveiled at the Geneva motor show in March.
