Japanese tyre brand Nitto is being relaunched in Australia via the nationwide Bob Jane T-Marts chain.
Nitto will be promoted nationally by stuntman Matt Mingay, who has been appointed as the brand's local ambassador. He rates Nitto as his number-one tyre brand.
"When I am on track with my team in front of crowds all over the world drifting, truck jumping and pushing the limits, we are putting our lives on the line," said Mingay.
"We rely on Nitto tyres to help us go hard and put on the best show we can, and to get us home safely after the show is over."
The Nitto range will include ultra-high performance, 4WD, SUV and passenger tyres and will be promoted by a "buy four, get one more" deal running through February and March.
It might not be the first name that springs to mind when talking tyres, but Nitto – which is owned by Japan’s Toyo Tires Group – is reported to be the most "liked" tyre brand globally on Facebook.
A Nitto website has been set up to help spread awareness of the brand.
According to Nitto Tyres Australian marketing manager, Jose Angeles, going on-line will help familiarise Australians with the brand, while simplifying the process of choosing tyres.
"Localised on-line information will make the brand more accessible and the process of tyre purchasing easier and more intuitive for Aussies in every suburb," Angeles said.
