Kia has offered a sneak-peek at its redesigned Rio more than a month before it makes its global premiere at the Paris motor show on September 29, courtesy of these three teaser sketches.
Appearing sharper than before inside and out, the fourth-generation Rio is claimed to be all-new, bringing "class-leading practicality and safety technology, the latest connectivity features, and more assured and engaging ride and handling characteristics".
Kia says its new light-sized five-door hatch was designed in Germany and California, in close collaboration with the company’s main design centre in Namyang, Korea.
Key design changes include a longer front overhang and bonnet, longer wheelbase and an upright C-pillar, which Kia claims give the car "an even more confident and balanced appearance than its predecessor".
The replacement for Kia's current Rio – the company's global best-seller, with more than 473,000 sold worldwide last year – will mark the beginning of an influx of new Kia models when it arrives in Australia in the first quarter of next year.
Also due here in early 2017 is a new-generation Picanto micro-car, which is expected to debut in Paris next month too, while Kia Australia's first compact SUV and its first large rear-drive sedan are both on track for local launch in the third quarter of 2017.
