Hyundai’s third derivative of the all-new i30 family will be a sporty five-door coupe, motoring.com.au can exclusively reveal.
The new three-car i30 range was announced recently at a pre-Paris motor show reveal. There, Hyundai showed three shadowy silhouettes (see image) which saw the company’s execs confirm that a wagon would follow. Until now, however, it was thought the third model would be a traditional three-door sports coupe.
Now, it has been confirmed, instead of a three-door coupe, Hyundai will follow the i30 hatch with a cut-price rival to the Mercedes-Benz CLA. Instead of a sedan-coupe, however, the i30 variant will have five-doors with an opening rear hatch.
Expected to have more radical, overtly sporty looks, it’s thought the range-topping five-door coupe has been created to attract a more youthful audience that will happily pay a premium over the i30 hatch for its looks.
Later on, just like the hatch, an N version may also follow.
More details are expected to be revealed soon – perhaps as early at this week’s Paris motor show.
