Just weeks out from its world debut at the Paris motor show on September 29, our spy photographers have delivered the best look yet at the five-door liftback that will become Holden's first imported Commodore in 2018.
Pictured here in mainstream diesel form, Germany's all-new 2017 Opel Insignia presents a sleek five-door liftback body style not dissimilar to Audi's A7, but very different to both the existing Insignia and Commodore sedans.
These latest images don't show much more than we've seen previously, including a twin-turbo V6 all-wheel drive version that could become Australia's next Commodore SS, but provide a better look at the car's rear-end and hatchback.
While the Insignia/Commodore 'sedan' will bow at the French show next month, a wagon version will follow before both model derivatives replace Holden's homegrown Commodore after Adelaide production ceases late next year.
The large five-door will be about 100mm longer than the current Insignia and therefore about as long as the existing Commodore.
Despite this, kerb weight is tipped to reduce by as much as 200kg, thanks to a new GM E2XX platform that already underpins Chevrolet's new Malibu in North America.
Inside, the new model will come with a completely new interior featuring GM's latest infotainment technology – perhaps even including the option of digital instruments like those seen in Opel's 2013 Monza concept.
Holden's next Commodore will be very different under the bonnet too, with four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines expected to drive the car's front wheels in mainstream variants.
Stand by for Opel's pre-Paris show Insignia teaser campaign to begin soon.
