The BMW M4 pictured here at the Nurburgring has the spy photographers scratching their heads.
While the prominent aerodynamic aids hint at a competition model undergoing high-speed testing around the 'Ring, the rear seat remains in place – with the headrests clearly visible. That would indicate this vehicle slots into the M4 range below the lightweight GTS variant.
The different (diffuse?) aerodynamic elements include a front spoiler from the M4 Clubsport sold in very limited numbers in Spain, according to the spy photographers. Side sills and the rear diffuser appear to be unique, the spy snappers say.
Other media outlets are suggesting this is a vehicle testing the aero pack for a new, post-facelift variant to sit between the standard car and the M4 GTS in the range. That would place it somewhere around the same level as the 331kW M4 Competition Pack, or perhaps higher still.
With the spied vehicle such a mystery, there's no word on what it will be called, when it's likely to be released, or how much it may cost.
There is, of course, also the possibility the vehicle is a standard car just circulating the 'Ring to try out some aero kit for track cars.
