The 2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia has arrived in Australia bringing price rises of between $1005 and $2000 while adding more standard features.
At the same time, the 2.2-litre turbo-diesel Giulia has been deleted from the range, condensing the line-up to four variants powered by three petrol engines grades, which are now priced from $60,900.
You'll now pay an extra $2000 for the hard-core twin-turbo V6-powered 375kW Giulia Quadrifoglio model (now $145,900 plus ORCs), which won Australia's Best Driver's Car 2018.
See below for the full price list.
According to Alfa Romeo, the uptick is price is offset by improved customer value across all variants, with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross path detection and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto included fitted as standard.
All Giulia models have a front-engine, rear-drive layout, akin to rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 Series and Lexus IS.
While Aussie sales of the Giulia dropped slightly in 2018 -- down to 613 units from 639 the year prior -- sales of the top-selling medium luxury car in the segment last year, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, slumped by more than 40 per cent. Sales of the formerly evergreen Benz slid from to 5055 cars in 2018, down from 8549 a year prior.
Sales of the Audi A4 also dropped by 25 per cent to 1625 units in 2018, while the BMW 3 Series rebounded by almost 20 per cent with 3079 sales.
Alfa Romeo is clearly hoping to make a run on the market, which will be joined by the all-new 3 Series next month.
An eight-speed automatic transmission is fitted on all Giulia models, along with features such as 18-inch alloy wheels, leather seat trims, dual-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors and an eight-speaker stereo system. Giulia Super – 147kW/330Nm, 0-100km/h 6.6sec
Giulia Veloce – 206kW/400Nm, 0-100km/h 5.7sec

Entry-level Giulia variants get the added infotainment and safety tech features and the mid-spec Giulia Super variants adds swiveling adaptive headlights with Xenon bulbs and heated rear seats.
Step up to the Giulia Veloce and eight-way power adjustable front seats are fitted, while the tyre-frying Giulia Quadrifolgio (formerly QV) benefits from all of the above along with a new 'Quadrifoglio' leather and Alcantara steering wheel with carbon-fibre accents.
Previously the only way to get adaptive suspension on Alfa Romeo Giulia and Super models was to option the Veloce Pack, but the popular add-on is now offered singularly as a $2000 extra.
The Veloce pack is still offered at $4000 for those two model grades and adds active suspension, dark 19-inch alloy wheels, heated leather sports seats, heated steering wheel, aluminium pedals and trim plus tinted windows and red brake callipers.
