Audi Australia has confirmed pricing and specification details for its updated Audi TT sports car range, which drops from 12 variants to just two for the 2020 model year.
The German car-maker has taken the knife to the Roadster body style, and also axed the manual gearbox and front-wheel drive variants from its Australian line-up.
As such, the price of entry into Audi’s junior sports car portfolio has risen $5200 – a premium the car-maker justifies with standard all-wheel drive, automatic and additional equipment across the range.
Starting at $79,990 (plus on-road costs), the entry-level Audi TT 45 TFSI gets a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine with 169kW and 370Nm, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Nought to 100km/h takes 5.3 seconds, while fuel consumption is rated 6.6L/100km on the combined cycle.
Additional standard equipment for the MY20 Audi TT Coupe includes LED headlights with 'dynamic' scrolling rear indicators, auto-folding exterior mirrors and the Audi phone box light with wireless phone charging.
Those features are over and above sport seats, leather and Alcantara door inserts, 18-inch wheels, multi-function steering wheel with paddle shifters, all-digital virtual cockpit instrumentation, satellite navigation and digital radio.
Further up the food chain at $99,900 plus on-road costs ($1955 less than before) is the Audi TT S Coupe with a 210kW/380Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder that also shuffles drive to all four wheels via an automatic transmission.
More powerful outputs in the S correlate with a hastened 4.7-second 0-100km/h time and claimed average fuel consumption of 7.0L/100km.
The flagship receives an additional $8500 in standard equipment, according to Audi, comprising: 19-inch wheels, metallic paint, red brake callipers, heated front seats, nappa leather upholstery and a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
On the safety front, both Audi TT models get side assist (blind-spot monitoring), lane keep assist, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, progressive steering and cruise control with speed limiter.
Audi recently confirmed the upgraded TT RS flagship would join the revised line-up from early 2020.
