BEIJING MOTOR SHOW: DS teases all-electric supercar

Dramatic all-new supercar concept heading for Chinese show; likely to feature car-maker's latest pure-electric powertrain

DS has posted a new video on its official Twitter and Instagram accounts that previews an all-new concept for a supercar which is likely to be revealed later this month at the Beijing motor show.

The short videos, which went live over the weekend, show a sharp-suited supercar concept on which, if you look closely, you'll be able to spot 'DS Performance' badges.

Rumoured to be a concept for a pure-electric supercar, the new model is almost certain to preview both the car-maker's next-generation powertrains and the future direction of DS design.

It's not thought, at this stage, that DS has any intention of actually putting a pure-electric rival to a Ferrari 488 into production.

The premium French car-maker, spun off from Citroen, views China as one of its most important markets with the car-maker selling almost 16,000 cars there last year. The move to expand into pure-electric vehicles will capitalise on the huge demand for zero-emission vehicles there.

It's not the first time DS has created a pure-electric concept.

In 2016 at the Geneva motor show released its E-Tense concept, a 300kW high-performance coupe that could hit 100km/h in 4.5 seconds and cover around 310km between charges.
