Mercedes-Benz has announced the arrival of a limited-run Motorsport Edition A 250 Sport 4MATIC for Australia.
The model celebrates the launch of the revised A-Class range and is exclusive to the A 250 Sport 4MATIC variant.
Production is capped at 250 units locally, the model peppered with PETRONAS green highlights in lieu of the red accents usually found on the A 250 Sport 4MATIC. These feature on the front and rear bumpers, wheel flanges, wing mirrors and the end plates of the rear wing.
Offered in five paint colours – non-metallic white and black, metallic silver, black and grey – and with 19-inch alloy wheels, the Motorsport Edition can be optioned with or without the rear wing. The wing, which is borrowed from the Mercedes-AMG A 45 4MATIC, features on the A 250 Sport 4MATIC for the first time.
The interior also scores 'green' highlights, notably around the dashboard vents, which blow air from Mercedes' Thermotronic climate control system. Also worth a look are the heated Neon Art design seats which score memory function in the limited-run model. Both features are exclusive to the Australian-spec model.
Those features are added in addition to the extras recently scored as part of the A-Class' model-year upgrade. Notably, these also include a power increase of 5kW, taking the A 250 Sport 4MATIC to 160kW and 350Nm (and fuel consumption up 0.1L to 6.7L/100km).
A 250 Sport 4MATIC models now also include AMG body styling and Ride Control suspension, fixed LED headlights, KEYLESS-GO, a panoramic sunroof and a 12-colour interior ambient lighting system.
Available until the end of May production 2016, the Motorsport Edition adds a $4490 premium over the derivative variant. The A 250 Sport 4MATIC is now priced from $53,300 plus on-road costs.
