First images of the facelifted 2021 Genesis G70 sedan have been leaked in Korea, showing a daring new front-end design.
Adhering to the luxury brand’s new design ethos seen in vehicles like the GV80 large SUV, the new-look Genesis G70 mid-size luxury sedan features split-level headlights and bold new grille.
The photos appear to have been taken inside the Hyundai Group’s Ulsan factory in South Korea, where the Genesis G70 is manufactured and were first posted by The Korean Car Blog.
There is also a photo of the rear-end, which reveals a less dramatic redesign with its resculpted tail-lights. The big oval exhaust outlets appear unchanged.
Coming to Australia in 2021, the mid-life update for the G70 is also expected to bring a number of interior and technical updates.
It’s not clear if the facelifted model will get any new or upgraded powertrains, such as the new 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder turbo-diesel that produces a healthy 204kW/588Nm in the upcoming Genesis GV80.
Priced between $59,300 and $79,950, the the existing six-variant Genesis G70 range is currently offered with 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder (179kW/353Nm) and 3.3-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 (272kW/510Nm) engines.
The Genesis G70 competes the mid-size premium sedan segment alongside the Lexus IS, which will be renewed later this year, Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
Genesis CEO William Lee confirmed back in February that the brand is studying the idea of a wagon or shooting brake version of the G70 that would target wagon-loving European markets such as Germany.
