Ferrari has begun building the hype for a new supercar that it will reveal on September 17.
Posting details of a new event and an accompanying image of an obscured arty sketch of the car it plans to reveal on its company website, the famous Italian supercar-maker is believed to be developing the new model under the codename F176.
Rumour has it that Ferrari will not reveal a new model, but a Speedster based on its existing V12-powered 812 Superfast.
Commentators claim it will be renamed the 812 Monza and be released as part of an ultra-limited run for Ferrari collectors.
Following on from the 2017 Ferrari 488-based J50, it's not known if the 812 Monza will feature any more power. That said, given the standard 812 pumps out an incredible 588kW/718Nm from its naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12, the roadster version of the front-engine supercar isn't in need of more beans.
Instead, performance is likely to improve over the 812 Superfast's acceleration benchmarks (0-100km/h in 2.9sec, 0-200km/h in 7.9sec) as the Speedster version is likely to weigh as much as 100kg less than the portly coupe's 1630kg kerb weight.
As well as the mystery model, the Italian supercar maker is also primed to launch a Spyder version of the hardcore 488 Pista at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance later this month.
Ferrari is expected to release more teases of the F176 as its big reveal nears.
