How much would you pay for the last Holden VE Commodore ever built?
That question will be answered at midday on November 22, when an online auction of eight heritage Holdens will close.
For what's it worth, the bidding on the 2012 Holden VE SS-V Commodore V8 sedan, with its Chlorophyll Blue paint job and just 13km on the odometer, will open at $45,000.
The auction is being held exclusively online by Manheim who is selling the vehicles on behalf of GM Holden.
A number of other collectible Aussie cars are up for grabs, including a very special 2013 Holden VF Calais-V (lead picture).
Bidding for the Calais will start at $30,000 and is expected to fetch a fair a pretty penny given its provenance as the first VF vehicle to roll off the production line in Elizabeth, South Australia. Finished in Prussian Steel paint, the Calais-V has 56 kilometres on the odo.
Of the eight Holdens, the most expensive vehicles up for auction are both the last of the Aussie-built Commodore lineage, a VF II Commodore Redline Motorsport from 2017, build number one out of 1200, and a VF II Commodore Director from the same year, which is also build number one of 360.
The two will start the bidding at $65,000 and both have just 9km on the clocks.
From the most expensive to the most affordable vehicle on offer, GM Holden will let go of a 1990 Holden Barina that held 17 Guinness World Records for fuel economy.
With 28,617km on the clock, the 1.3-litre compact car was last registered in 1991 and not in working order, but the auction starts at $5000.
Another long-range legend, and the oldest car on the lot, is a VC Commodore from 1980 that circumnavigated Australia in 10 days by a pair of car scribes, Evan Green and Matt Whelan. If you do the maths, that means neither of them would have slept much during the journey - although we're reliably informed the duco has been deodorized.
The VC Commodore has 20,235km on the odometer and starts at $10,000.
There's a 1995 VR Commodore Series II rally car that won the Mobil Round Australia Rally in 1995 driven by Ed Ordynski ($12,000), and a pristine 2001 Monaro CV8, the number one Commodore VT-based coupe to roll off the production line. The 5.7-litre V8-powered sports car has just under 3800km showing on the odo and is pegged from $40,000.
The Holden heritage online auction kicks off at midday on November 18, and winds up at midday on November 22. Check out the Manheim auction site.
