FrankenTitan busts out!

World’s first six-door, nine-seat Nissan Titan limousine revealed

If you’ve ever lamented your limousine’s lack of off-road ability or the absence of third-row seating in your full-size American pick-up, SCD American Vehicles now has the answer.

Meet the world’s first six-door, nine-seat off-road limo, based on the Nissan Titan XD and created by the same Brisbane-based engineering outfit that has been selling the all-new DT-Series RAM 1500 for almost a year.

Commissioned by a customer with particular – and particularly curious – requirements, FrankenTitan took four months to build and was actually created by combining two Titan utes.

SCD says the emphasis was on engineering to strengthen and lengthen the chassis while retaining the Titan’s original design cues. While the standard Titan XD dual-cab is already an expansive six metres long, FrankenTitan has been stretched to a huge 7.3 metres and adds two extra doors.

Besides an extended tailshaft and a 2.0-inch suspension lift courtesy of King Springs and Bilstein, the running gear remains standard.

SCD says the latter gives FrankenTitan “a more dominant and proportional stance” while the beefy side-step and bull-bar/brush-bar combo “ensures this limousine toy-hauler can cruise through the outback”.

Inside, FrankenTitan’s RHD-converted cabin looks completely stock but actually features a custom centre front seat to accommodate the latest addition to the customer’s family, two roof-mounted TV screens, a central roof air-con unit and enough USB ports for all nine passengers.

SCD owner Eddie Kocwa says that although FrankenTitan looks like it came straight off the production line in Mississippi, it wouldn’t have been possible without months of arduous work by his team of engineers, fabricators, panel beaters, spray painters, interior trimmers, auto electricians and dash specialists.

“This project demonstrates our capabilities and hopefully we can partner with Nissan to provide full-volume remanufacturing of the Titan for the Australian market,” he said.
