GENEVA MOTOR SHOW: Renault Morphoz EV previewed

Battery-powered Morphoz SUV concept set to preview a family of EVs to rival cars like the Volkswagen I.D 4

Renault has begun teasing a new concept car called Morphoz that will be unveiled in a couple of weeks at the 2020 Geneva motor show.

It's not clear what this image released overnight shows, but it's believed to be the rear boot lid of the concept, which previews a battery-powered SUV rival for the forthcoming Volkswagen ID.4.

The Morphoz was developed to "adapt to the personal needs, desires and uses of each user", said Renault, adding that it will also reveal its vision of "tomorrow's mobility."

Hotly tipped to preview not only a production version, the Morphoz could also inspire a whole family of Renault EVs expected to be based on an all-new dedicated pure-electric architecture, mirroring the approach Volkswagen took with its ID family.

Borrowing its own styling inspiration from previous Renault EV concepts like the Symbioz, EZ-Go, EZ-Pro van and luxurious EZ-Ultimo, as well as having a design that will maximise interior space thanks to the lack of a conventional petrol or diesel engine, the Morphoz will also preview Renault's latest driverless technology.

Stay tuned, because Renault is expected to release more teasers of its pure-electric SUV in the build-up to its unveiling.
