Volvo has become the latest victim of an online security breach following images of its all-new V60 appearing online ahead of next week's formal reveal of the Swedish wagon.
Originally set to be unveiled at a VIP event this Wednesday, the V60 was set to make its public debut at next month's Geneva motor show – but those plans have been completely dashed following Bosnia Herzegovina car blog, Automotosvijet, publishing undisguised brochure images of the V60 late last night.
Highlights include the V90's slimmed down silhouette that has been blended effectively with other design cues from XC60, like the rear tail lamps.
In the absence of pictures providing evidence to the contrary, the 90-series cabin is thought to have been re-packaged for the smaller car. Expect the same minimalist approach to design, the big car's portrait-mounted infotainment and good mix of high quality materials.
Featuring shrunken looks gifted from its biggest sibling, the V90, the new wagon is set to share the larger Volvo's Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform and rely on the flagship Swedish model's range of 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines.
Like the flagship sedan and wagon, the fastest version is likely to come with the car maker's T8 plug-in hybrid system that blends a powerful turbo- and supercharged 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor.
Combined power and torque will exceed 300kW/650Nm – that should easily be enough for a sub-5.0 second sprint to 100km/h in the smaller, lighter body of the V60.
As well as sharing its powertrains, the V60 is likely to come with the car maker's latest semi-autonomous driver aids.
Safety won't take a backseat either, from the brand renowned for its crash protection. But all will be revealed when Volvo officially pulls the drapes off on Wednesday 21.
Stay tuned for more information.
