Honda announces capped-price servicing

Japanese importer Honda jumps on capped-price servicing bandwagon, adding new 'adaptive' servicing option for low KM customers

Better late than never, Honda has joined the likes of Toyota, Holden, Ford and Hyundai in offering its customers capped-price servicing on roughly half its models across the nation, providing static prices for all major servicing intervals.

The new capped-price scheme offers servicing for as low as $240 per service, and applies for the first five years or 100,000 kilometres, whichever comes first.

The new scheme currently covers six out of Honda's 11 vehicles:

-    CR-Z  (2012 onwards)
-    Jazz Hybrid (2013 onwards)
-    CR-V (2013 onwards)
-    Civic Hatch (2012 onwards)
-    Civic Sedan (2012 onwards)
-    Accord (2013 onwards)

The new Odyssey will be added to the list of eligible vehicles when it hits dealerships early in 2014, which means the Accord Euro, Legend, City and Insight models are left off the list.

Effective as of October 1, 2013, Honda's new capped price servicing scheme will cost 2012 Civic sedan owners $240 for the first major six-month/10,000km service. The most Civic sedan owners will pay is $263 for the 12-month/20,000km service.

Honda Australia Director, Stephen Collins, said the new capped-price servicing regime will be well received by potential customers looking to lower their car's running costs.

"We are pleased to offer Capped Price Servicing to our customers for the first time. We are committed to providing our customers with choice, value for money and the very best after-sales service in the market," said Collins.

He also outlined the company's new 'adaptive' servicing scheme for customers who drive their cars sparingly.

The new adaptive servicing option applies to customers who cars have only accumulated low kilometres on their regular service intervals, and reduces the servicing price by only replacing items that show wear and tear.

"The benefit of Adaptive servicing is that items are replaced or attended to exactly when required," reads the Honda press statement.

"Customers who travel low kilometres will pay less than customers who travel high kilometres, reducing the overall cost of ownership and impact on the environment."
