Lotus Cars Australia has announced price and specification for two of its fiercest models yet, the Exige Cup 430 and Evora GT430.
Offering more power and added downforce, along with less weight, the Exige Cup 430 takes the Lotus marque to new heights in Australia.
It is priced from $199,990 plus on-road costs, a $60,000 hike on the regular model. Only 10 versions of the limited-edition model have been slated for Australia, with five already spoken for, according to Lotus.
Engineers have shed 66kg worth of weight, taking out unnecessary mass along with adding lighter carbon-fibre parts.
The car’s Toyota-sourced 3.5-litre V6 carries over but now uses an Edelbrock supercharger and charge cooler. The resulting 320kW and 440Nm brings a nought 100km/h time of 3.3 seconds and a speed ceiling of 290km/h, the Lotus pushing drive to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.
Lotus has calibrated the car’s traction control system accordingly, to six settings with variable degrees of slip. Stopping is catered for by four-piston AP racing brakes, while Michelin Cup specification tyres ensure sticky contact at all four points.
The car’s racey premise is underlined inside by a roll bar, along with bespoke carbon seats fitted to reduce weight.
Lotus has also confirmed price and specification for the Evora GT430, a slightly larger, more practical offering. It is available in two trims, the street-focussed GT430 Sport ($239,990) and the flagship GT430 ($259,990)
Running the same supercharged engine and driveline as the Exige Cup 430, the Evora boasts a 0-100 time of 3.8 seconds and a supercar-bothering top speed of 315km/h.
It also combines carbon-fibre, aluminium and titanium materials to shed weight. The Sport version features bodywork capable of bringing 100kg of downforce, while the flagship offers carbon fibre aero that boasts 250kg of downforce.
