Automobili Lamborghini has confirmed production of its Lamborghini Urus has surpassed 15,000 units, just three years after it was launched.
Now officially the best-selling Lamborghini of all time, the Urus is also easily the Italian supercar marque's fastest-selling model.
Celebrating chassis number 15,000 rolling off the line at the Sant'Agata Bolognese plant, Lamborghini said the milestone Urus is destined for the British market and comes with a matte grey paint finish that's combined with bright green highlights.
Unveiled late in 2017 and launched in July 2018, the Urus now accounts for 61 per cent of Lamborghini’s total sales, with around 4962 examples of the Lambo SUV delivered in its first full year of production.
Urus sales are this year up by 35 per cent compared to the first half of 2020, which is no surprise given the impact of COVID-19. But in comparison with other models, Urus outsold the Huracan (1532) and Aventador (524) combined across the first half.
With no signs of its popularity waning, an updated version of the Urus has already been spotted winter testing that's set to be renamed the Urus EVO.
As part of the updates, expect an overhauled cabin, new infotainment and, potentially, even more power from its twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 that currently produces 478kW and 850Nm of torque.
That means it will be even quicker than the 3.6 seconds it currently takes to sprint from 0-100km/h.
There were 48 Urus sales recorded in Australia last year, from a total of 111 across the brand, while examples of the SUV on the used car market attracted huge attention, including one highly optioned dealer demo model that was asking $500,000 – more than $100K above the manufacturer’s retail list price.
