Leaked: 2019 Suzuki Jimny revealed

Japanese car blog captures all-new pint-size SUV completely undisguised ahead of launch

Suzuki's all-new, fourth-generation Jimny has once again been leaked ahead of its launch later this year.

Caught this time by Japanese car blog, Creative311.com, the small rugged SUV has been updated in a similar way to the recently launched Mercedes-Benz G-Class.

That means it keeps its tough, boxy looks, elevated ride height and compact dimensions.

Beneath the skin -- again like the new G-Wagen, the 2019 Jimny is almost certain to be based on a durable but relatively unsophisticated ladder-frame chassis.

Sources have already told motoring.com.au that for the fourth instalment both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions will be offered, the latter with a proper low-ratio gearbox.

Despite coming with all the hardware favoured by 4x4 enthusiasts, the new Jimny is also certain to offer new electronic aids like hill-descent control, hill-start assist and stability control with an off-road setting.

Under the bonnet, the next Jimny will be powered by Suzuki's latest small 1.0-litre turbocharged Boosterjet three-cylinder petrol engine. A larger, naturally-aspirated 1.2-litre four-cylinder will also be available.

With production tipped to have begun in May 2018, Suzuki is expected to officially unveil the Jimny in a matter of weeks, although deliveries Down Under might not start until late this year or early 2019.
