Lexus has released three special-edition SUVs, bringing a host of extras including unique black exterior cosmetics, bigger wheels and the Encore Platinum Owner Benefits program as standard for a few extra thousand dollars.
The first Lexus UX Crafted Edition arrives as a single variant alongside four versions of the updated mid-size Lexus NX Crafted Edition and two versions of the updated large Lexus RX Crafted Edition.
Priced at $55,075 plus on-road costs, the sole Lexus UX Crafted Edition is based on the Lexus UX 200 Luxury + Enhancement Pack 2 variant ($48,175 plus ORCs) of the compact SUV.
It comes standard with metallic paint (normally $1500 extra), dark chrome accents on the grille moulding, black 18-inch alloy wheels and black accents for the headlight surrounds, grille, side marker lamps, roof rails and mirror caps. Additional external features include door puddle lamps and a moonroof.
Inside, the UX 200 Crafted Edition features an exclusive black and blue interior trim colour scheme with light grey stitching, and the addition of smart key card entry/start and a head-up display.
Standard carryover features include a 126kW 2.0-litre petrol engine driving the front wheels through a CVT automatic transmission, climate control, powered/heated front seats, power tailgate, wireless phone charger, 10.3-inch infotainment screen with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Like all UX models, the Crafted special comes with a suite of Lexus Safety System+ driver assistance tech including pre-collision safety system with night and day pedestrian and daytime cyclist detection, radar active cruise control, lane trace assist, automatic high beam, road sign assist, blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert.
Meantime, the Lexus NX Crafted Edition is priced from $61,500 plus ORCs – $4000 more than the NX 300 2WD Luxury ($57,500) on which the entry-level variant is based – and available with 175kW 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 147kW 2.5-litre petrol-electric hybrid powertrains in both 2WD and AWD configurations.
Externally, the NX Crafted Editions are distinguished by a black grille, grille moulding and mirror caps, plus unique-design 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside, extra equipment includes illuminated scuff plates, moonroof, smart keycard entry and panoramic-view monitor.
Like all NX Luxury variants, the NX Crafted comes standard with dual-zone climate control, heated/powered front seats and a 10.3-inch multimedia display with navigation, 10-speaker audio and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus the Lexus Safety System+.
Finally, Crafted Edition versions of the large five-seat Lexus RX 300 2WD ($76,886) and RX 350 AWD ($86,136) are priced about $3000 higher than the models on which they’re based.
Like their smaller siblings, they come with bespoke black exterior accents for the grille, grille moulding and mirror caps, while the RX 300 Crafted Edition adds 20-inch alloys from the RX 350.
The only extra equipment is a moonroof and courtesy lamps and, of course, the RX 300 comes with a 175kW 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and the RX350 is powered by a 221kW 3.5-litre V6.
Standard features across the Lexus RX line-up include dual-zone climate control, powered front seats and steering column adjust, wireless phone charger, keyless smart entry/start, power hands-free tailgate, and a 12.3-inch touch-screen system with voice control, navigation, 12 speakers, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the Lexus Safety System+.
The complimentary upgrade from three-year Lexus Encore to Lexus Encore Platinum membership brings Lexus on Demand (the ability to swap into another Lexus at Qantas Valet in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth or select Lexus dealerships on four occasions for up to eight days each) and eight valet parking vouchers at participating Westfield shopping centres and Chadstone Shopping Centre in Melbourne.
“We know luxury customers appreciate the special touches that make up true luxury vehicle ownership experience, and these Crafted Edition SUVs focus on offering bespoke styling elements and unique features,” said Lexus Australia chief executive Scott Thompson.
“Combined with the addition of the Encore Platinum Owner Benefits program as standard, and these special UX, NX and RX models offer customers a truly experience amazing on the road and beyond.”
