Lotus reveals limited Exige Cup 430 Type 25 edition

Latest Exige special said to have livery inspired by the legendary Type 25 Lotus Formula 1 car

Lotus has rolled out yet another limited-edition based on its latest Exige Cup 430.

Created to celebrate the Lotus race team's most successful F1 car of all time – the legendary Type 25 that cemented itself in motorsport history by winning 14 Formula 1, two Drivers' Championships and two outright constructor wins.

Appropriately, just 25 of the Exige Cup 430 Type 25s will be made, each priced in the UK from £110,000 ($A202,000).

Commemorating the race car that inspired it, all 25 come painted in an updated version of the 1960s racer's liveries.

Two versions will be offered – a Lotus Racing Green version with bright yellow highlights and a paint scheme that contrasts white paint with subtle green highlights.

Inside, there's a wooden gear lever and an open-gate transmission reminiscent of the old Lotus F1 car.

The seats, meanwhile, are Alcantara while additional aluminium and carbon-fibre elements are introduced elsewhere in the cabin.

Beneath the skin, the 316kW/440Nm supercharged 3.5-litre V6 carries over unchanged and remains capable of launching the Exige to 100km/h in just 3.2 seconds before topping out at 290km/h.

Adding to its collector appeal, each of the 25 Type 25s will come an interior plaque and a certificate of authenticity signed by Lotus boss, Jean-Marc Gales.
