MG Motor Australia has announced a special-edition version of the MG ZS small SUV to celebrate the Chinese-owned British brand’s official global partnership with the Liverpool Football Club.
As its title suggests, the MG ZS Essence Anfield is named after the iconic soccer club’s home ground and based on the top-spec Essence variant (priced at $27,490 drive-away), but costs just $25,490 plus on-road costs.
Only 200 examples will be available from July, each bringing a unique red and white colour combination in honour of the famous football club’s team colours.
On the outside, the MG ZS Anfield features a gloss-black grille with red highlights, as well as red trim highlights in the front and rear bumpers. Exterior paint options include white or black.
Inside the cabin, the colour theme continues with a red striped pattern for the black fabric seat trim, red leather side bolsters and red stitching that also flows through to the steering wheel, gear lever and door trims.
Standard safety and driver-assist features include emergency brake assist, hill launch assist, rear parking sensors, reversing camera and push-button start.
All MG ZS models are front-wheel drive and come standard with a six-speed automatic transmission, plus the brand’s seven-year/unlimited-km warranty with roadside assist.
The MG ZS Anfield is powered by the same 82kW/160Nm 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine as the flagship Essence and mid-range Excite Plus variants.
Priced from $23,490 drive-away, the three-variant MG ZS range will soon be joined by a battery-powered EV variant, which looks set to become Australia’s cheapest electric SUV.
“Since its launch, we have been delighted by the popularity of the ZS SUV range locally with our customers and now whether you are simply a fan of unique style or a fan of the ‘Reds’, then the ZS Essence Anfield provides a compelling new option for our owners,” said MG Australia chief executive Peter Ciao.
