Land Rover has condensed its mid-sized SUV range, the number of Velar model-grades dropping from a whopping 65 variants to just 13 for 2020.
Following the same process already applied to other Jaguar Land Rover products, the MY20 range has been updated slightly and now consists of six core variants and six performance-focused R-Dynamic variants, as well as the supercharged V8 SVAutobiography Dynamic.
The latter still sits atop the range at $176,412 before on-road costs are added.
Previously, buyers could opt for a number of powertrain combinations between each trim level, but Land Rover Australia is maintaining stock of 20 other Velar variants in very limited quantities.
Now, base-spec petrol and diesel engines are reserved for S variants, while higher powered engines are found in SE variants and HSE variants get more power again.
Equipment upgrades include a powered tailgate and the addition of Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and digital radio as standard across every variant.
Seven engine options are available, including 184kW petrol and 132kW diesel (S variants), 221kW petrol and 177kW diesel (SE variants), 280kW petrol and 221kW diesel (HSE variants) and the most powerful 405kW 5.0-litre supercharged V8 found in the flagship Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic.
R-Dynamic versions of each powertrain can still be optioned on each model-grade and owners can also option things like a Dynamic Handling Pack, Premium Interior Upgrade Pack, Convenience Pack, Cold Climate Pack and Driver Assist Pack.
