It’s the supercar brand you’ve probably never heard of, but the new car-maker on the block – Naran Automotive – has just unveiled this stunning twin-turbo V8 hyper-coupe.
Led by ex-racer and entrepreneur Ameerh Naran, the UK-based start-up intends to launch the Naran Hyper Coupe in 2022, following a development program that started in 2017.
It also claims that its ambition is to create the world’s fastest four-seater hypercar around the Nurburgring.
Pricing is yet to be announced for the Koenigsegg-rivalling beast, however somewhere north of €1 million ($A1.6m) would be a good starting point.
Just 49 bespoke examples of the 2+2-seater Naran Hyper Coupe will be made, although this could be extended with a barchetta convertible version also reportedly in development.
The Naran’s 5.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine is expected to harvest a huge 781kW of power and 1036Nm of torque, ably launching it from 0-60mph (96.6km/h) in a claimed 2.3 seconds.
Naran also claims 100mph (160.9km/h) comes up in 4.5sec, and 200mph (321.9km/h) in 16.5sec, before hitting a top speed of 370km/h.
Overseas reports indicate that the front-mid-mounted powertrain was developed in collaboration with German motorsport company Racing Dynamics, using BMW’s 4.4-litre engine block as its base.
It’s paired to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission and drives all four wheels, although 100 per cent of the engine’s power can be selected by the driver to be transferred to the rear wheels in similar fashion to the Active M Differential seen on the forthcoming new BMW M3 and M4.
Indeed, Autocar reports that BMW Motorsport has had a significant hand in the Naran Hyper Coupe, providing several elements including the chassis that is shared with the BMW M8.
Weighing around 1620kg, the new model is roughly as wide as BMW’s M8 GTE Le Mans car, helping the Naran Hyper Coupe manage weight transfer as well as creating enough room for its elaborate adjustable double-wishbone suspension layout.
Other GT3-inspired features include four-way adjustable coil-overs, 22-inch carbon-aluminium wheels and AP Racing 390mm carbon-ceramic brake discs with a bespoke brake cooling system.
Naturally, the futuristic hyper-coupe features plenty of aero work, and is reportedly able to produce a mighty 1377kg of downforce.
A number of high-profile names in the automotive industry are working on the Naran’s inaugural vehicle, including ex-Jaguar Land Rover and BMW designer Steve Pegg, as well as Daniel Mense, an engineer who helped develop the record-breaking Nio EP9 hypercar.
