New Car Vault: 2019 Nissan LEAF

We’ve grabbed the very first 2019 Nissan LEAF to come Down Under to give you a sneak peek

Australia is on the brink of an automotive revolution. Industry pundits are suggesting that by 2030 as many as half the new cars sold will be electric.

With its new LEAF, Nissan wants to be a brand that is front of mind as this change hits the Australian new car marketplace. Indeed, it now says that electric vehicles are a priority – even Down Under.

The new Nissan LEAF is already on sale in markets like Japan (where we drove the new EV in preproduction form in 2017) and Europe where demand is outstripping supply. That’s good news for Nissan, but it has meant that on-sale delays are likely Down Under.

Right now, Nissan is being tight-lipped on both the new Nissan LEAF’s Australia launch date and its all-important pricing. It’s also yet to confirm just how many LEAF variants will be offered.

We may have to wait until late in 2018 to have answers to all our Nissan LEAF questions – and almost certainly the local launch will roll over into 2019. For the time being, however, here’s a quick look at some of the key features of the 2019 Nissan LEAF with the help of Nissan Australia Product Management exec, Chris Schultz.
