Maserati has launched a pair of celebratory F Tributo special-editions of its Levante SUV and Ghibli sedan that pay tribute to the car-maker's historic success in motorsport.
As part of the commemorative tweaks, both the 2021 Maserati Ghibli F Tributo Special Edition and the Levante version ride on new black 21-inch alloy wheels that are combined with bright yellow brake callipers and badging on the front fenders.
Two unique paint finishes are offered – a Rosso Tributo red and an Azzurro Tributo blue.
Both hues are said to be directly inspired by the car-maker's racing past, with the red almost identical to the paint used on Maserati's first-ever racing car, the 1926 Tipo26, which went on to win its 1500cc class at the famous Sicilian Targa Florio road race with Alfieri Maserati at the wheel.
The second colour, Azzuro Tributo blue, is said to reference Maserati's home city of Modena which uses the same shade on its flag.
Finally, the yellow used on the brake callipers is claimed to match the nose cone of the iconic 250F that was campaigned by racing legend Juan Manuel Fangio.
The 'F' in the F Tributo name is another reference to the Argentine Fangio who, as well as Maserati, raced for Alfa Romeo, Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz.
Inside the special Ghibli and Levante there's a black leather interior with stitching to complement the exterior paint.
In Europe, the Maserati Levante F Tributo is offered with the choice of either a 257kW 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol that takes 6.0 seconds to complete the 0-100km/h dash or the more powerful 321kW Levante S that just takes 5.2sec to hit 100km/h from rest.
The same powertrains are available on the F Tributo Ghibli, with the 257kW version reaching 100km/h in 5.5sec, and the 321kW requiring just 4.9sec.
The two models are on sale now in Europe, with Australian allocations still to be confirmed.
