Nominations open for ABDC 2018
Help us choose the cars that will compete in Australia’s Best Driver’s Car 2018motoring.com.au will celebrate the fourth running of Australia’s Best Driver’s Car in 2018 with an event that is set to be our biggest yet.
Our senior road test team has identified 30 potential candidates for our annual performance mega test. It’s been a stellar year for performance car launches Down Under with Lexus’ ground-breaking LC 500, Audi’s five-cylinder TT RS, Kia Stinger GT, and Mercedes-AMG’s all-wheel drive E 63 S 4MATIC+ gracing our reviews page.
We’re also expecting the Honda Civic Type R, next-gen Renault Megane RS and Hyundai’s first-ever hot hatch, the i30 N, by the start of next year.
Pace through our reviews, and you’ll notice eligible ABDC candidates flagged for nomination once tested on local roads. The intention is to generate a list from which readers can assist in selecting the 12-15 cars that will face the judges on Tasmanian roads and racetracks early in 2018.
It’s the first time motoring.com.au readers will play an active role in selecting the cars that compete.
For 2018, the general conditions of eligibility are unchanged. The cars must be production, road registerable cars with a retail price of less than $250,000.
Although the ABDC judging panel will make the final selection, our first ever driver’s car reader’s poll late in 2017 (or early in 2018 pending final timing) will play a significant part in selecting the finalists.
