Prices up for MY21 Lexus NX

Japanese luxury brand’s most popular model now priced from closer to $60K

Lexus Australia has increased the prices of its best-selling model Down Under, the Lexus NX.

Special-edition Crafted variants have been taken off the menu, leaving a total of 10 full-time model grades, all of which receive a price hike of between $1800 and $2800 depending on the variant.

Two powertrains (petrol and hybrid), two drive layouts (2WD and AWD) and three equipment grades (base Luxury, mid-range F Sport and top-spec Sports Luxury) continue to be available.

At base level, hybrid power commands a $3000 price premium, all-wheel drive costs $6500 extra and the F Sport package adds $6500.

Pricing now starts at $57,500 plus on-road costs for a front-drive petrol NX 300 Luxury (up $1800), while the hybrid-powered version of the same car now costs $60,500 plus ORCs.

Meanwhile, hybrid-powered F Sport variants have received the highest price increase of $2800, and the most expensive model in the range remains the NX 300h Sports Luxury at $79,088 plus ORCs – up $2274.

Offsetting the MY21 price increases somewhat, Lexus says there are some “new interior trim fixtures” as standard across the range, while flagship Sports Luxury variants now also come with a heating steering wheel.

A spokesman for Lexus Australia said the prices increases were modest compared to exchange rate fluctuations, which were also blamed for widespread price hikes announced recently by Toyota.

“Lexus has regrettably been forced to introduce price increases from 1 July on certain models imported from Japan,” he said.

“In keeping with our commitment to customer service, the price increases will not apply to orders received by 30 June. Vehicles for those customers will be ‘price protected’ even if they are delivered after 1 July.

“These are modest increases when measured against movements in the AUD/JPY exchange rate.”

Lexus Australia sources all its vehicles from Japan. So far there are no price increases for other Lexus models.

Petrol-powered versions of the Lexus NX continue to employ a 175kW/350Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine.

The NX’s hybrid powertrain comprises a 2.5-litre petrol four paired to an electric motor, producing a combined power output of 147kW.
