The new Mercedes-Benz GLC has again been spotted testing overseas, and this time the evidence is clear that the second-generation mid-size luxury SUV is drawing closer to production.
Our spy photographers in Europe handed us our first look at the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC last year, but these latest images – still under heavy camouflage – reveal a variety of changes.
Despite the camo, these include our first look at the production model’s redesigned headlights and tail-lights.
Round LED tail-lights seen on last year’s engineering development car have now been replaced by more visible production-ready tail-light assemblies that are slimmer than those found on the current model.
Up front, the GLC’s new headlights also appear to be slimmed down, as with the latest-generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan on which it’s based.
There also looks to be a more aggressive grille in between those new front light clusters, while the exterior door handles sit lower in each door and the wing mirrors appear slightly lower-slung as well.
The next Mercedes-Benz GLC is expected to get a more spacious interior with slightly larger dimensions, along with a host of new technology including more semi-autonomous driving aids.
As per the C-Class, the GLC is expected to move exclusively to four-cylinder engine power, including a GLC 350e plug-in hybrid and a range-topping GLC 63 good for at least 480kW from a 2.0-litre turbo.
Stand by for a global launch in a matter of months and first deliveries in Australia later next year.
