Many Aussies will be lamenting the fact the upcoming Ford Bronco SUV won't be coming to Australia, but there are workarounds.
As Japanese tuning house Dream Automotive Design and Development proves, it's possible to create a tribute to the Bronco by using the compact Suzuki Jimny as a canvas.
It's called the DAMD Dronco and sometimes the Little B Dronco, according to the company's Instagram account.
Designed to imitate a classic Ford Bronco, the DAMD Dronco's powder blue exterior paint is juxtaposed with white highlights on the wheels, bumpers and rear canopy.
Combined with a reworking of the Jimny's headlights and grille at the front, not to mention a roof ladder at the back, there's more than a passing resemblance to the Ford Bronco here.
There are countless dress-up kits for the Jimny available – mostly in Japan – designed to mimic bigger vehicles.
Some of the more popular facsimiles, such as the G-Mini by Liberty Walk, imitate the iconic Mercedes-Benz G-Class, while the Land Rover Defender has also had some modding love in the past.
Like regular Suzuki Jimny models, power for the Dronco comes from a compact 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine pumping out 75kW/130Nm.
The Jimny has a sub-par three-star ANCAP safety rating and is priced from $23,990 plus on-road costs in Australia.
