Tougher 2021 Kia Sorento leaked

Fourth-gen Mazda CX-9-rival caught undisguised, features tougher more rugged looks, set for full range of electrified powertrains

Pictures of the all-new fourth-generation Kia Sorento have surfaced largely following a late-stage prototype was caught undisguised testing in Korea.

The images, posted on Korean car site

, are thought to be of a near production-ready mule ahead of the Sorento's official Korean launch on February 17.

Featuring tough new styling, it looks like the mid-sized Kia SUV will pick-up where the butch American Telluride left off, featuring an aggressive take on the car-maker's Tiger Shark grille up front and chunkier styling all-round.

Inside, it looks like Sorento will continue the brand's push upmarket, featuring a huge widescreen infotainment system, plenty of brushed aluminium trim and attention to detail, plus fit and finish to challenge the Germans.

Other highlights of the Sorento's cabin is a full digital instrument cluster and a new rotary gear selector that below it is supplemented by another rotary dial that manages driving modes and the all-wheel drive hardware.

Under the bonnet, we expected a range of mild-hybrid petrol and turbo-diesel, plus a plug-in hybrid that should cover more than 50km on pure-electric power alone.

Once it's been launched in Korea, we expect the Sorento to make its European debut at the Geneva motor show this March ahead of sales beginning late this year, early 2021.
