Skoda Australia has announced the long-awaited return of its flagship sedan and wagon – the Skoda Superb – and the continuation of the crossover wagon version – the Skoda Superb Scout 4x4 – as a full-time member of the Czech brand’s local line-up from next month.
All three 2021 Skoda Superb models feature improved standard equipment levels that the Volkswagen sister brand claims more than offset the accompanying price increases.
After a prolonged hiatus from the Australian market due to WLTP-related production unavailability that prevented the facelifted MY20 version being sold here, the MY21 Skoda Superb returns to showrooms next month in Sportline 206TSI sedan and wagon form.
Both facelifted models continue to be fitted with a 206kW/350Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine and all-wheel drive, plus a host of new features claimed to add $3400 worth of extra value.
These include Virtual Cockpit, MIB III Columbus infotainment, Matrix LED headlights, animated rear indicators, wireless phone charging, wireless Apple CarPlay, predictive pedestrian detection, extended Side Assist, rear door KESSY, ‘SKODA’ welcome logo and a new steering wheel.
The MY21 Skoda Superb Sportline 206TSI sedan is priced at $60,390 plus on-road costs (up $3100) or $62,990 drive-away (up $3000). The wagon version is positioned $1800 up the line at $62,090 plus ORCs (up $3100) or $64,990 drive-away (up $3300).
Cheaper entry-level 162TSI versions of the MY21 Skoda Superb sedan and wagon, pricing and specs for which will be announced soon, will arrive in the first quarter of next year.
Meantime, the Skoda Superb Scout 200TSI 4x4 limited-edition continues as a full-time MY21 model, again powered by a 200kW version of the Superb’s 206TSI engine fitted with a petrol particulate filter, but now bringing a range of extras claimed to be worth $2900.
Apart from a raised ride height and body-side cladding compared to the standard Superb, new features include a detachable tow bar, the upgraded MIB III Columbus infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and a new steering wheel.
The MY21 Skoda Scout 200TSI 4x4 wagon now costs $61,990 plus on-road costs (up $2500) or $63,990 drive-away (up $2000).
Options for all three 2021 Superb models include metallic paint ($770), a panoramic sunroof ($1900) and a range of alternative alloy wheels and upholstery.
All new Skoda vehicles come with a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, and the option of a five-year service plan capped at $1700.
