Mercedes-Maybach has unveiled a new luxurious cabriolet based on the imposing 6 Coupe it revealed at last year's Paris motor show.
Claimed to "define the ultimate in luxury for the future", the new Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet was revealed over the weekend at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California.
Measuring in at 5.7 metres in length, the latest Maybach concept features the Coupe's huge grille and large 24-inch multi-spoke alloys wheels, but gets a fabric roof featuring interwoven rose gold threads.
With the roof down, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet is designed to replicate a luxury yacht, but there's only space for two inside its opulent leather-lined cabin.
Interior highlights include white nappa leather, a timber floor and large aluminium inlays.
A concierge voice control system which understands (an obeys) natural speak enables the Maybach to surprise with a minimalist design dashboard.
The simple dials are accompanied by two head-up displays on the windscreen.
To keep its wealthy occupants happy when on board, the Vision 6 uses biometric sensors to analyse the state of mind of the driver and passenger.
Featuring plenty of luggage space where you would expect to find an engine, the 6 Cabriolet, like its coupe sibling, is powered by four electric motors delivering a combined output of more than 550kW.
This enables the convertible to hit 100km/h in less than 4.0 seconds.
The battery range is quoted to be around 320km although, thanks to a new on board DC charger, a quick five-minute charge can provide an additional 100km.
Originally, the first 6 Coupe was created to test whether a appetite exists for a dramatic luxury coupe. Now, this glamorous convertible follow up displayed at Pebble Beach is being seen as evidence the Benz-owned luxury sub-brand is about to green light production versions of both body styles.
If so, the large Mercedes-Maybach will rival both the Rolls-Royce Wraith and Dawn convertible.
