British engineering firm, Lanzante, has released pictures of its McLaren P1 GTR-18, an even faster road-legal version of the track-bred McLaren P1 GTR.
Claimed to be just one of six P1 GTRs converted to GTR-18 spec by the former Le Mans 24 Hour race-winning team, the car unveiled sports the same Gulf Team Davidoff livery as the last McLaren F1 GTR raced by Lanzante.
The GTR-18 was created in response to demand from some of the 40 owners who bought the P1 GTR. Featuring an increase in length, a larger front splitter and heavily modified rear wing, the P1 GTR-18 is thought to feature a completely new aero package that goes some way to offset the increase in ride-height needed to be road legal.
Despite now being allowed on the road, the special P1 GTR-18 is very much still a track-bred machine and is said to be so loud that Lanzante will offer radio headsets to help drivers communicate with their passenger.
It's not yet known what the cost of converting the six cars has been, but it's rumoured it could be as high as a seven-figure sum -- in addition to the the already substantial $3.5 million owners paid for the 736kW P1 GTR.
It's thought that as well as delivering higher downforce and less weight than the standard McLaren P1 road car, Lanzante engineers have also liberated even more power from the twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 hybrid powertrain, although there's been no claims yet.
There's also no word on when and where Lanzante will launch what it's calling the ultimate upgrade pack for the McLaren P1 GTR.
