Volkswagen Australia is giving away a brand-new Mk8 Volkswagen Golf GTI to one lucky fan, but you’ll need to prove your virtual racing skills to be in the running – and watch plenty of TV too.
The giveaway is part of a campaign to boost interest in the new-generation 2021 Volkswagen Golf Mk8 range, which began arriving in Aussie showrooms last month.
Now, the German brand is giving fans the chance to customise their own Golf GTI in the digital world, and then select a racetrack and cut laps as a way to “escape the everyday”, as VW puts it.
It’ll also put participants in the running to win their very own GTI hot hatch – in the metal.
The Golf AdBreak Championships, which can be accessed at vwgolfadbreak.com.au, will commence Monday, July 19 and run for five weeks, with VW saying the campaign will appear on all major television and sporting stations.
There are two free gaming modes: Play Mode or Win Mode.
Play Mode can be accessed at any time via the designated web page, allowing players to practice driving and become familiar with three different circuits including a Coastal Loop, Mountain Pass or an Outback Trail.
Win Mode is launched during the Golf ad, via a QR code, allowing users to “race each other for the remainder of the ad break”.
Volkswagen says each player is ranked on a leader board and those who achieve the qualifying time will go into the draw to win a Golf GTI.
VW says players can take their digital GTI for a hot lap online at any time throughout the five-week campaign period, which the car-maker says encourages the “break of monotony and routine of everyday life and transports consumers to a world of excitement”.
