How to make ice cream with zero emission

If you thought truly guilt-free, zero-emission ice cream was a pipe dream, think again! Nissan has reinvented ice cream van concept, and we evaluate the product

Picture this: It’s a hot summer’s day, you’ve been out in the sun at some boring family gathering all afternoon and the ice cream van rolls up. But because of its need for a filthy diesel generator, you’re ideology prohibits you from purchasing a delicious ice cream… There’s just too much CO2 belching out of every orifice of the operation. But what if there was another way? Nissan has found it, with its EV ice cream van.

Featuring solar panels on the roof that recharge recycled Nissan LEAF battery pods, that in turn run the freezer, fridge and soft-serve machine, the whole shebang has zero CO2 emissions, thanks to the Nissan van’s EV powertrain.

The electric vehicle concept could revolutionise the mobile iced confection business, especially as more and more big cities are banning combustion engine vehicles.
